Eastern Saaremaa Tour – perfect for nature lovers
This 4–5 hour tour is a great choice if you want to enjoy both island history and beautiful nature in one easy trip.
After the ferry ride, we drive across Muhu and over the causeway to Saaremaa. On the way, we pass the playful Ö Monument and the famous stadium oak tree in Orissaare, voted European Tree of the Year in 2015.
Our first stop is the Maasi Stronghold Ruins. Walking among these medieval walls gives you a real feeling of Saaremaa’s dramatic past. Nearby, we visit an ancient sacrificial stone with small cup marks – a rare reminder of old local beliefs.
A short drive brings us to St. Mary’s Church, one of Estonia’s oldest churches with both Romanesque and Gothic features.
Then we enjoy nature: a peaceful 5-kilometre bog walk around a quiet lake, a 9-metre viewing tower, and the fresh air of the forest. In summer you can swim; in autumn you can pick berries.
After the walk, we stop for lunch at the cosy Tornimäe Dairy Café next to Tornimäe Church.
Finally, we take you back to the ferry port or your accommodation.
