From the capital to the island and back
Join us for an unforgettable tour that takes you from the vibrant heart of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, to Saaremaa, Estonia’s largest island. Before we begin our nearly 2-hour journey to the ferry terminal, we’ll explore St. Nicholas’ Church in Tallinn, home to some of the finest and most valuable examples of medieval church art. Don’t miss the stunning panoramic views of the city from the tower!
Another highlight in the capital is the mysterious bastion tunnel, part of the old defense system. As we explore these underground passages, we’ll also visit the Carved Stone Museum at the tunnel’s end, offering a unique addition to your adventure.
After our time in Tallinn, we’ll continue our journey toward Saaremaa. Along the way, we’ll pass several churches, each with its own unique story to tell. For the adventurous, there’s also an opportunity to climb a 3.5-meter-high sacred boulder.
A relaxing 30-minute ferry ride offers the perfect break, with the chance to enjoy the refreshing sea breeze or grab a snack at the ferry café. Upon arriving on Muhu Island, we’ll cross the causeway that connects Muhu to Saaremaa, offering ample opportunities to capture stunning photographs of the scenic drive.
Along the way, we’ll pass quirky landmarks, such as the Ö Monument, which marks the shift in regional dialects, and the unusual oak tree growing in the middle of a school stadium.
Our next stop is the Kaali Crater, a spectacular meteorite impact site and one of the rarest geological features in Europe.
Finally, we’ll arrive at Kuressaare, known for its well-preserved medieval castle and peaceful seaside atmosphere — the perfect way to end our journey.
This tour can also be taken in reverse, starting from Kuressaare and heading towards Tallinn.
