Join us on an unforgettable journey to Saaremaa’s southernmost tip – the Sõrve Peninsula, where history, legend, and nature meet. Once home to a thriving coastal community, this land was forever changed by the events of World War II, and today only a few hundred residents remain to share its stories.
Our adventure begins at Tehumardi, where the powerful Night Battle Monument honors one of the fiercest battles on the island. Nearby, we explore a Viking burial site, where ancient ship graves reveal Saaremaa’s Viking past, offering a rare glimpse into centuries-old traditions.
We continue past the Port of Mõntu, a poignant site from the 1944 wartime evacuation, and stop at a Cold War missile hangar, a striking reminder of tense global history.
At the tip of the peninsula stands the iconic Sõrve Lighthouse. Climb its 145 steps for breathtaking panoramic views—on clear days, you can see Latvia and witness where two seas meet.
Along the way, we pause at the dramatic Ohessaare cliffs, the serene Jämaja seaside cemetery, and the WWII anti-tank fortifications, before returning to Kuressaare with memories of history, legend, and natural beauty.
